Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald

18th November 2018

I’ve literally just finished watching the second film of the Fantastic Beasts series, and I thought I’d try and get out what I thought of it while it’s still fresh. Just for additional information, I watched it in IMAX 2D.

It was incredible in so many ways, but maybe the best part was seeing the wizarding world from a whole new perspective. Everyone remembers Newt Scamander from the original Harry Potter series, but he was only an author of a textbook then. And in the first Fantastic Beasts film we did start to get to know him as a person, but you learn quite a bit more in this film.

I can’t fault anything with the film, but I will have to now go and do some research on everything, because I need a few things cleared up!

The revelations in the film will truly shock you. However, I cannot reveal anything. I already can’t wait for the next instalment.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle

13th November 2018

It must be movie trailer season, because here’s another film that I already need to see! It’s a live-action version of the classic, Jungle Book. If it follows in the same vein that the most recent Tarzan film did, then I imagine it will be a huge success. At least, for me it will be.

Acclaimed actor and director Andy Serkis reinvents Rudyard Kipling’s beloved masterpiece, in which a boy torn between two worlds accepts his destiny and becomes a legend. Mowgli has never truly belonged in either the wilds of the jungle or the civilized world of man. Now he must navigate the inherent dangers of each on a journey to discover where he truly belongs. – Netflix

Pokémon Detective Pikachu

12th November 2018

I did not expect this film at all. You get to see Pokémon actually in the real world!

It’s a bit weird hearing Pikachu talk, and maybe even weirder that it’s Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as the voice actor.

There were certainly some cool things that I noticed (spoilers!):

  • Pikachu looks like a teddy.
  • Psyduck has fur.
  • There’s an army of Bulbasaur!
  • Mr. Mime is an actual mime.
  • It’s based in “Ryme City”.
  • The main character (Harry Goodman) received a train ticket demo Leaventown to Ryme City on his 21st birthday. Pokémon trainers usually start their journey when they’re 10.
  • Jigglypuff isn’t very effective at maintaining an awake audience at Karaoke.

Also, there is actually already a Detective Pikachu game for the Nintendo 3DS.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Official Trailer →

8th December 2017

I don’t care how cliché this storyline is, but they’re going back to the island!

And I can’t wait!

Because, as we all know, life will always find a way.

Watch it on YouTube.

Spoiler Warning!

Description taken from YouTube page:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!

7th October 2017

There’s a new Pokémon movie coming out (the 20th actually), and it’s by far one of the most significant they’ve ever made.

Instead of continuing the timeline of Ash and his many companions, they’re using it to celebrate all the adventures between Ash and Pikachu, that have happened across the tv-series and the other movies.

I won’t spoil too much about the film, because it’s probably best to just watch the trailer, and let it all come flooding back in. All I will say is, it starts right back at the beginning! And it contains so much stuff, I seriously don’t know how they will fit everything in.

As always, there’s a few benefits you get from going to see a Pokemon movie. You can get a code for Pokémon Sun/Moon to allow your Pikachu to wear Ash’s hat. Or for Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, you’ll receive a QR code that will grant you a Pikachu wearing the hat that Ash wears in the movie.

However, there’s something else that’s just brilliant. They will give you a special edition card for the Pokémon TCG!

Maybe that isn’t a big deal on it’s own. But I remember when I saw the first Pokémon movie at the cinema. I came out after watching the film, and was presented with a free poster, and a Pikachu trading card! To be honest, I don’t know where the card is anymore, but I still want this one.
