A Giant Archive Inside a Working Salt Mine #

Sounds pretty weird, I’m sure. But thanks to Tom Scott, you can get a glimpse of a working salt mine in the north of England that also doubles as a physical archive. And it’s huge.

I must admit, I’m relatively new to his videos. But I’ve been binging them a lot recently, and they’re absolutely fascinating.

From Ideas To End Users This was published 3 years and 1 day ago (11th October 2015), and it’s about my experience with developing a game, and what it’s like to witness other people experience your creations.

The Heart of a Black Hole This was was even earlier, I published it on the 16th December 2013! From reading it back, I can tell it was inspired by a BBC special, The Science of Doctor Who, which actually featured Brian Cox. I still don’t understand why I decided to try and explain to everyone what a black hole is, how an event horizon works, the effects of time dilation, and also what’s at the heart of a black hole. All I can say, is that I’m pretty weird.


Medium tries to prevent people reading deleted articles on The Wayback Machine #

I was recently trying to check a reference on an article I’d read on Medium about 2 years ago. It had been removed from Medium by its author. So I checked the link on The Wayback Machine and there were plenty of snapshots. However when I click on any of them I get immediately redirected to the Medium.com homepage.

I’m not exactly sure of the benefits for Medium with this, but it seems pretty aggressive to me.
